iPhone → Android Get Used to It

How can I find and send GIFs while texting on Android?

With Gboard on Android, you can search or browse GIFs directly from the keyboard in apps that support sending them. Open the emoji picker, choose GIF, then select a result. Messaging apps may have their own GIF search as well, so the exact buttons and available results can differ.

What to do

  1. Install or enable Gboard if it is not already your keyboard.
  2. Open a supported message conversation and tap the text field.
  3. Tap the emoji icon on Gboard, select GIF, and browse or search for a suitable animation.
  4. Choose the GIF and follow the messaging app's Send action if it does not send automatically.
  5. If you cannot use GIFs, check whether the particular app, keyboard, or message type supports animated media.

Limits and compatibility notes

Check this before relying on the answer Not all apps or chat modes support sending GIFs from a keyboard, and keyboard UI can vary by version. Sending GIFs may use mobile data or MMS depending on the messaging service. Never assume the same GIF library or sticker options are present on iPhone and Android.
