You can still move some content without erasing the Duo. Apple’s full setup-time transfer, including its supported WhatsApp path, is a different process. First protect anything you have created on the new phone.

If you need Apple’s setup-time Android transfer, Apple says to erase the iPhone and start setup again. Only choose this after protecting new iPhone data. On a compatible Android 17 device, check Apple’s app-free route; otherwise use Move to iOS. Availability of individual data types still varies.
Apple documents manual ways to bring over mail, contacts, calendars, photos, documents, music and some other content. Add cloud accounts or copy files category by category. This is not a promise that every local app database, purchase or chat history can be merged.
A supported Android eSIM can sometimes transfer through iPhone Settings after setup. Direct transfer depends on the carrier and device; if unavailable, ask the carrier for activation or a QR code. This does not move photos or chats.
Apple includes eligible WhatsApp messages and media in its setup transfer list. Do not assume ordinary manual file copying will restore or merge chats into an already active WhatsApp account. Check WhatsApp’s current Android-to-iPhone requirements and protect both chat histories before deciding to reset.
