iPhone → Android Move Your Stuff

Will my WhatsApp chats and saved passwords move from iPhone to Android?

WhatsApp chat history can move through supported iPhone-to-Android transfer flows, but the process is not automatic for every setup. Passwords kept in Apple’s iCloud Keychain should be treated separately; do not assume they will appear automatically in Android’s password manager.

What to do

  1. Before switching, check that WhatsApp uses the same phone number on both phones.
  2. Follow the WhatsApp transfer flow during Android setup or the supported post-setup transfer flow; a cable and a QR-code step may be required.
  3. Avoid signing in to WhatsApp on the new Android phone before the supported chat transfer finishes.
  4. Make an inventory of important saved passwords and passkeys and confirm how each account will be accessed after the switch.
  5. Verify critical chats and sign-ins on Android before erasing or trading in the iPhone.

Limits and compatibility notes

Check this before relying on the answer WhatsApp transfers vary by manufacturer, setup path, and timing; some devices may require a reset if transfer was skipped. Password/passkey portability is a separate process. A successful WhatsApp move does not verify your saved credentials.
